Our kiln dried wood is firstly stored for several months and then put through a drying machine to ensure that it is completely dry. This process takes out all excess moisture which means you only burn wood and its resin which provides all the heat, meaning you use less wood. Unlike many other logs sold in nets, all our wood is hardwood, i.e. from trees that lose their leaves in the winter, such as ash, oak and beech. Softwoods - which we do not supply - include spruce and pine and these burn much faster than hardwoods and have a tendancy to spit and crackle. The kiln dried firewood we supply contains these hardwoods: Ash - Produces both heat and bright flame. Oak - Very dense so difficult to dry. Burns very slowly and gives off lots of heat. Beech - Produces good flame and heat. Has a tendency to spark.
