Young Plants scoops five Chelsea medals for Fuchsias
Daniel Shane writes: Fuchsias provided by the supplier Young Plants were all part of winning exhibits at the recent Chelsea Flower Show, it has been reported.
According to Horticulture Week, the awarding of gold, silver and bronze medals to five exhibits boasting Fuchsias could herald a return to favour for the species.
The firm supplied plants to UK Horticulture, Birmingham City Council, Potash Nursery, Roualeyn Fuchsias and the Design Centre at Scotsdale, which all picked up prizes at the prestigious event.
Alex Newey, managing director of the firm, told Horticulture Week: "These medals show that this year there is a definite swing back to the Fuchsia.
"We are very proud of all of our customers and associate garden designers."
He added that to have five different Fuchsia varieties win five different medals was "fantastic".
First discovered in the late 17th century, the plants are named after the famed German botanist Leonhart Fuchs.
