Hampton Court gears up for garden show

Tuesday, June 23 2009 11:21:09 by Editor

Gardening & Climate change Taking place from July 7th to 12th is one of the most highly anticipated gardening events in the UK - the Hampton Court Flower Show.

The main themes of this years event are gardening during climate change, healthy living and growing your own, with the latter being particularly poignant during the recession.

Also on display this year will be a special analysis of 100 years of weather between the Royal Horticultural Society and the Met Office, in what is likely to be an interesting exhibit.

As this year is the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII's crowning, there is a special Tudor themed area with six different gardens - one for each of his wives.

There will also be a small garden display to inspire those with more compact spaces and a sustainability feature with all of the gardens exhibiting some kind of initiative, be it with recycled materials or energy saving measures.
