Water Conservation Residents from Fordingbridge in Hampshire have formed a conservation group with a view to renovating some of the areas wetlands.

A pond, an overgrown river bank and several other local waterways will be the focus of the group which is being organised by the Reverend Graham Long, according to the Salisbury Journal.

Speaking to the local news provider about Bishops Pond, a neglected body of water that has been around since medieval times. Now with the help of the group, it will be restored back to its former glory.

He said: "The pond is fed by springs from under Normandy Way, but still has a problem with drying out."

The reverend also noted that the group would welcome the help of the Environment Agency in dredging the pond.

Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust recently launched a competition to discover Britain's best back yard wetland in an effort to document the UK's ponds and marsh areas.
