Colchester residents plant shrubs and clean-up the streets

Thursday, August 13 2009 17:55:38 by Editor

Potting and Planting Residents of St Anne's Ward in Colchester are taking matters into their own hands by providing greenery for the local area.

That is according to local newspaper the Daily Gazette, which reported that after the council failed to provide plants for the area the locals have grouped together to plant shrubs and greenery and clean-up the street.

Local councilors have got behind the idea and have urged people to donate horticultural items to the project.

Mike Hogg, one of the three local officials who openly supported the plans, told the local news provider: "People have been moaning about how the road looks.

"We are hoping to get a date as soon as possible and hope we can eventually do it in other streets, too. It will involve a litter pick and planting some shrubs."

In related news, a group of residents from Fordingbridge in Hampshire recently joined forces to renovate local wetland areas.
