Michelle Williams: The garden reminded me to care for myself

Thursday, September 17 2009 09:18:18 by Editor

Potting and Planting Hollywood actress Michelle Williams has revealed that gardening helped her cope with the grief of losing her former love and fiance, the late Heath Ledger.

In a recent interview with Vogue magazine, the 29-year-old Academy Award nominee worked in a garden to get her through the grieving process after the untimely death of the actor last year.

"One [friend] got me gardening in the spring and that's when it all turned around. I remember being on my hands and knees. The ground was cold and muddy. I pushed back the dead leaves and saw green shoots of spring," she said.

"Under all this decay something was growing. Caring for the garden reminded me to care for myself."

Michelle and Heath were together for three years before deciding to separate in 2007. They have one child together, three-year-old daughter Matilda, who lives with her mother in New York.

The actress began her acting career in popular teen series Dawson's Creek, starring alongside Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson.
