The Berkshire town of Wokingham has recognised the skills and work of keen gardeners in the area.
Prizes were awarded to gardens and green public spaces blooming in the region by the town mayor, Councillor UllaKarin Clark, last week as part of the annual Green Fingers Gardening Competition, the Wokingham Times reported.
Commenting on his love of gardening one winner chosen by the Wokingham Horticultural Association, Paul Thomas, told the local newspaper: "We have never done anything different especially for the competition.
"If you are not a gardener, you cannot understand how passionate you get about your gardens."
The small south-east market town offers horticulturalists a rich canvas of loam soil to work with and a subsoil of sand and gravel, ideal for growing vegetables and crops.
This month, Warrington played host to the International Garden Centre Association Congress, attracting green-fingered enthusiasts from all corners of the globe.
