The Oxfordshire village of Launton is celebrating all things green this week with the provision of 70 plots for the area's gardeners and growers.
According to the local newspaper, the parish gathered in the village on Saturday (September 26th) for the opening of their new allotment site, given back to the public by the farming family that owns the land.
Wendy Foster, of the Launton Plotters' Allotment Association, told the Bicester Advertiser: "The allotments have brought the community together - people have said they are talking to people they never knew before.
"By growing their own crops, people have appreciated food more and they have been sharing and swapping surplus produce with other plotters."
Villagers of all ages, from school kids to pensioners, are set to benefit from the green space.
The nearby market town of Bicester is home to Rousham House and its 18th century English landscape gardens.
